Schafer Corporation has an exciting open opportunity for a highly motivated, talented freelance writer to join its team.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Researching, writing and/or editing papers technical in nature.
• Researching, writing and/or editing papers that are non-technical in nature and written to an 8th grade level.

The following knowledge skills and attributes are required:

• A background in Journalism with special emphasis on Science or Engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, writing, or related area.  A Science or Engineering degree is preferred.
• Ability to take complex scientific and technical concepts and translate them into easily understandable words and phrases
• Experience with frequent contributions to popular science magazines and blogs.
• Available within 2 hours of notification of assignment.
• Highly motivated; performs above and beyond expectations.

Writing Samples are required, if selected for an interview:

• Two technical writing samples
• Two non-technical writing samples.  Subject matter must be on a technical or scientific subject.
