Job Description

Anglophenia, BBCAmerica.com’s blog translates UK culture to an American audience and is seeking a freelance editor to work 20 hours a week out of BBC America’s New York office.
The position will report to the editor of Anglophenia.

DESCRIPTION:

The Freelance Editor is responsible for working with BBCAmerica.com’s digital production team to promote blog content on the BBCAmerica.com homepage and newsletter and develop content around BBC America’s programs and marketing initiatives. Draft 3-4 posts a day, highlighting British pop culture news, viral videos, and announcements about BBC America programming. Copy-edit and perform quality assurance on content as needed. Crop and re-size photos for image galleries and write captions. Promote blog content on social platforms and moderate comments on blog posts. Maintain Anglophenia’s editorial calendar, being mindful of major British pop culture events and milestones. Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions. Perform administrative tasks as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or another directly related area of study. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, exemplary organizational and copy editing skills, an eye for detail, engaging writing style, and strong knowledge of all things within British culture/content. Experience working with HTML, WordPress, Google Analytics, Microsoft Suite, and PhotoShop required.
